"Doba and his family were exceptionally welcoming, outgoing, and fun. We spent three nights at chez doba, and went on two hikes each day, to different waterfalls, viewpoints, and villages. In the evening we played football with the children and drank beer and tea with the locals. Special shoutout to Amadou, our guide for our stay - a great guy! Highly highly highly recommend Campement Chez Doba to anyone visiting Senegal, its been the highlight of our trip. We also booked onto an extra trip with Doba to tour a nearby bedik village, which was very picturesque! Doba Tours also offers other tours around Senegal, including Dakar and Niocolo Koba National Park, which we didnt use, but heard good things from other guests. The food was good and the bedrooms were clean and comfortable!"

Everthing was perfect

"Great helpful staff, freshly cleaned room. I arrived earlier than planned and they quickly swept and mopped the room and made up my bed while I waited. Super central location. Showers were hot. Got given a roll of toilet paper on check in which seems like a great solution to previous negative reviews saying toilet paper ran out and wasn't topped up. Great value for money"

There was no common area to hang out in like a lounge or courtyard or kitchen, but even still I made new friends just in my dorm room, in the corridor and in the bathroom while brushing my teeth. Probably not ideal for light sleepers as there is a karaoke bar nearby but I really enjoyed being able to hear all the singing!

"A Pleasant Surprise at Palm Garden! We booked Palm Garden without checking any reviews—only afterward did we take a look and feel a bit unsure. My husband even told me not to say anything about the booking, just to see how it was when we got there. But to our surprise, from the moment we arrived, everything was wonderful. At the doorstep, we were greeted by Madu at reception, who welcomed us with the warmest smile—as if we had known her for years! 😊 Our room was spotlessly clean, very spacious, with a large comfortable bed and a lovely balcony overlooking a beautiful view. It was clear that the staff really care about maintaining a high standard."

"I had a truly wonderful stay here. The front desk staff was incredibly nice, patient, and easy to talk to, he made the whole experience even better. The hotel has everything you would need, including a hair dryer. The bathroom and shower were especially great, very clean and comfortable. I was also really touched by the sign at the entrance of the bathroom clearly stating “Female Toilet, males not allowed.” It shows real respect for women and made me feel very safe. Little details like this genuinely warm your heart. I honestly don’t understand why this hotel has such a low rating on Booking. If the full score is 10, I would definitely give it a 10. Thank you again, I truly loved my stay here."

"The hostel is in the heart of Antwerp, it’s walkable distance from anywhere. We got access to our room very early which was a nice surprise. Our beds were comfortable and the shared spaces were alright. I liked the decor. Our stay came with a free breakfast, which was absolutely lovely. As fas as hostels go, this was a very pleasant experience."

My only gripe was again the location. Being that the hostel is in the very center, there was a lot of noise outside until the early hours of the morning. Again, not the hostel’s fault, just something to keep in mind.

There isn't much privacy in the shower area

"The owner was vey kind. He let us check in early as we took an overnight bus to Siwa. The room was very comfortable and we were able to use the facilities even after check out as we were waiting for our next overnight bus! Thank you for such kind hospitality!"

Dorms are by the main road and very noisy with traffic so hard to sleep. Creaky floorboards also.

Rooms very very basic and had a mould issue. But other than that was okay. We didn’t have bed bugs in our room, but we met other backpackers in the dorm beds that said they did have them…

"Wonderful staff; onsite restaurant including with a wide choice on menu, reasonably priced if using the unofficial exchange rate. My room was situated by the lake edge and was such a wonderful experience listening just to the waves crushing in the night and awaking to a wonderful sunrise. Truly bliss. Thought powered by solar, my shower was reasonably hot and lighting though dim was constant. I still recommend taking a torch for the sometimes power cuts. Be sure to arrange a boat trip….. you won’t regret it. Eagle bird, cliff jumping and snorkelling. One might even be able to visit the Rastafarian community near by."

Wifi was only available in reception area and to reach room I had to negotiate a steep set of stairs where railings were sometimes missing. Could be potentially dangerous and not recommended if one suffers from knee problems. Whilst orders were excellent the service could be vastly improved. Orders took for ever to arrive and were often cold. Management, if reading, please sort this out!

"The staff were amazing! So friendly, and helpful. There was milk provided for the guests which was a bonus as I always bring tea bags with me, so saved me a walk to the shop. The location was brilliant and the hostel was very clean"

The only issue is that I’ve stayed in similar hostels, but the price was nowhere near as expensive. I know it’s in Zurich, but it’s still a hostel.
